School Summary

The mission of Herndon High School is to fulfill the individual needs of our diverse student body, maintain high academic expectations and accountability, provide exemplary instruction, promote ethical values, and prepare students to be productive citizens.

Herndon High School is an inclusive high school that serves a diverse student body from Herndon, Reston, and Great Falls, and we are located near Dulles Airport and numerous technology centers.

Herndon offers a full range of advanced placement courses. Honors courses in grades nine through twelve help prepare students for upper-level and Advanced Placement courses. A comprehensive world languages program includes Spanish, French, German, Latin and Arabic. A multi faceted fine and performing arts program offers students a range of courses in visual arts, music, and drama.

Herndon High School's athletic teams participate in the highly competitive Concorde District and Northern Region. Athletics allow students to develop their competitive spirits. Student athletes are honored at the conclusion of each season with an awards banquet held at the high school. The annual senior awards night is a highlight of the school year and through school-community partnership Herndon students receive nearly 3 million dollars yearly in scholarship opportunities.

Along with the implementation of PBIS, Herndon High School will be joining some of our feeder schools and community organizations (such as the Herndon Community Center) as a "Kids at Hope" school. The philosophy of Kids at Hope is "all students can learn - no exceptions." We believe all students can be successful, contributing members at school, at home, and in our community. Furthermore, by having a collective learning approach, they will reap the benefits of connectivity to the community and personal success.
