School Summary

Newington Forest Elementary School opened its doors in 1983 and underwent a full building renovation in 2018.  The school and community celebrated the new school building and its 35th School Anniversary in 2019. A supportive, dedicated staff provides an engaging learning environment for a diverse student population of about 545 students. Strong emphasis is placed on utilizing the workshop model for math and language arts instruction to provide engaging student learning experiences. Common assessments at each grade level are used to assess student learning and inform instruction. Teachers collaborate weekly in collaborative learning teams to ensure equity in instruction occurs across each grade level.

The Newington Forest PTA is an integral part of the school culture at Newington Forest. The PTA offers events for community and school to come together to support a warm, nurturing environment for our students.
