School SummaryLondon Towne Elementary School has served the Centreville community since 1969. The school is composed of a diverse student population with a wide range of ethnic backgrounds, talents, learning styles, and abilities. London Towne is proud of its history, warmth, and inviting school climate. Staff members value teamwork, professional growth, and family outreach. At London Towne, staff members strive to stretch all learners with a rigorous curriculum tailored to the strengths of each child.
As a Title I school, London Towne offers full-day kindergarten, an array of literacy initiatives to meet the needs of all students, a Step Up Math program, a gifted and talented resource teacher, a technology teacher, and a parent liaison. Instructional practices are designed to engage learners in small groups throughout the day. ESOL, AAP (GT), and Special Education teachers work closely with classroom teachers in an inclusion model to provide strategies for a diverse student body.
Literacy is an essential focus at London Towne. Students are instructed in small groups customized to their assessed reading development. Throughout the day, students have multiple opportunities to engage in purposeful reading and writing activities. To increase their capacity for literacy instruction, teachers receive staff development and support from the school's reading teachers and Literacy Collaborative Coordinator. Technology is infused into the curriculum through integrated activities both in the computer lab, mobile labs, as well as classroom computer workstations.
The school plan is created in collaboration with teachers and parents and emphasizes the continuing commitment to improve the academic achievement of all students. Our work together with business-school partnerships, community support, parent volunteers, an active PTA, and Westfield High School students helps to meet and achieve London Towne's educational goals. Together, we make a powerful and positive difference in the lives of our children!
