School SummaryA small neighborhood school, Westbriar Elementary is tucked away in the Vienna suburbs of the Tyson's Corner area. Since its opening in 1965, Westbriar has maintained a program of academic excellence in a child-centered environment.
A dedicated teaching staff focuses on each child as a unique learner and recognizes the strength in individual diversity, creating opportunities for students to reach their highest potentials. Learning is viewed as an interactive process, and students take an active role in identifying their strengths and areas for growth. Through differentiated instruction, curriculum adaptations and a broad range of learning strategies, all students experience success.
Students have opportunities to learn using a wide array of resources, including a technology lab and a library/media center stocked with current materials. Staff members create a positive school climate, emphasizing respect and individual responsibility as well as teamwork.
With a focus on the intellectual, social and emotional growth of each child, teachers work to help students meet established benchmarks, but also to progress at their own individual rates. In collaboration with a strongly supportive parent community and business partner, the Westbriar staff helps students become well-educated and responsible citizens who are excited about learning.
