The Davis Career Center (DCC) supports students, ages 18-22, from 15 FCPS high schools. All DCC students receive special education services and have elected to attend DCC as part of a placement decision through their IEP team. Our students, who have typically transitioned from their base high school with an Applied Studies Diploma and wish to receive additional special education services focused on Career and Transition, have the opportunity to extend their learning through a variety of community work experiences provided by the local, northern Virginia business community. We partner with these local businesses to provide students work experiences focused on increasing soft skills and fostering independence. In addition to the student's community work experiences, they receive direct instruction in the following areas:
- Community-Based Instruction (CBI)
- Functional Literacy & Numeracy
- Career Exploration & Readiness
- Self-Determination
- Self-Advocacy
- Social Skills
- Life Skills
