School SummaryBeech Tree Elementary represents the best Fairfax has to offer. We believe all of our students have unique abilities. Therefore, we provide programs across the spectrum of needs. We have a school-based Advanced Academic Program (AAP), English as a Second Language Program (ESOL), and Special Education Services that span from Enhanced Autism to Speech and Language services. We are proud of our ability to meet the needs of our students, while partnering with parents to ensure that our students move on to Glasgow Middle School and Justice High School ready to achieve their academic and personal goals.
The diversity of our community is reflected in our staff. We have multilingual teachers, as well as Spanish speaking Parent Liaison. They warmly welcome our community into our school. Additionally, Beech Tree students receive formal instruction in Arabic on a weekly basis, preparing them for our global society.
Beech Tree has undergone a massive renovation that was completed in February 2012. Our beautiful, new classrooms are all state of the art. Throughout the school day students are interacting with technology. From SMART Boards to iPADs, to laptops in learning centers to digital lessons, Beech Tree students are digital natives prepared for the future. Students also receive Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) instruction during the school day and beyond.
Beech Tree Staff use the Responsive Classroom Approach to create a safe and nurturing community of learners for their students and each other. We call our teams CLTs, which stands for Collaborative Learning Teams. Twice a week, teams collaborate with a Language Arts and Math Coach to plan the instruction and assessment of learning. In addition to the bi-weekly CLTs in Math and Language Arts, our school practices vertical articulation, interdisciplinary teaching and targeted professional development consistently throughout the year.
