School SummaryRobert Frost Middle School has a reputation for academic excellence built on the strength of its caring teachers, supportive parents, and dedicated students. The school's primary mission is to help produce the leaders of tomorrow, people who know how to think, solve problems, and make difficult decisions in a changing world.
The school is nestled in a committed and deeply involved community. Approximately 1,200 seventh and eighth grade students attend Frost Middle School. Frost provides a model of excellence for middle school students transitioning between the self contained elementary school model and the comprehensive high school model. Our students are grouped together into interdisciplinary teams of approximately 140 students and the teams include the support of a school counselor and grade level administrator. In formulating goals for the school, staff members have focused not only on who the children are now, but also on who and what they will become. By stressing high expectations for both academic performance and behavior, staff members concentrate on ethics and citizenship with the hope that Frost students will grow to be people who will make a difference in their communities and their families.
Robert Frost Middle School has been recognized with the Governor's Award of Excellence from 2010, 11 and 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, as well as the Virginia Board of Education Distinguished Achievement Award in 2013. In 2013 Frost Middle School was recognized with the G.O.L.D.E.N. Wellness Award, as well as the Healthier U.S. School Challenge Bronze Award. The Virginia Music Educators' Association awarded Frost Middle School their Blue Ribbon from 2009, 10, 11, 12 13, 14, 15, 16, 17.
Recognizing that the students will join a complex and competitive workforce, teachers stress the acquisition of skills that will be valuable on the job. Robert Frost Middle School offers a multitude of programs that cater to a wide range of students' abilities and needs. The school houses an advanced academic center program and honors courses across the four core. Math courses include math 7 and math 8, as well as honors courses in math 7, Algebra and Geometry. A wide variety of world language courses are offered as well. Because business leaders tell school leaders that workers are needed who have the ability to think creatively and to respond intelligently to challenging situations, students frequently have opportunities to work in small groups on academic projects. Opportunities for critical thinking and problem solving are provided in every subject.
Frost Middle School is a community where students and staff know they matter while learning and growing together. We create meaningful relationships to foster a caring and inclusive culture. We engage in experiences to inspire curiosity and confidence. We develop problem-solving skills to thrive in a diverse and ever-changing world. We Are ONE Frost!
