School SummaryLane Elementary School opened in September 1995. Built adjacent to Beulah Park, Lane Elementary School was named for an advocate for children who served on the Fairfax County School Board for 23 years.
Lane staff members, students, and parents are committed to using their gifts and talents to learn and grow. A productive and respectful learning environment is created for everyone by promoting peace, good attitudes, hard work, and safety to ensure that each student can be a successful, lifelong learner. Together, the staff embraces open and honest communication, value diversity, and strive for high achievement. The staff is committed to providing a quality education for all students.
This includes teaching basic skills and applications and using critical thinking to challenge students. Language arts are integrated throughout the curriculum so that children realize that reading and writing are the basis for success in all subject areas. To support efforts to teach and recognize good citizenship, the staff at Lane has implemented a positive behavior support program called PAWS (Peace, Attitude, Work, Safety). As a professional learning community, the staff collaborates on successful instructional practices to support individual student achievement, as well as research new methods through the Teachers as Readers effort.
Lane enjoys an active PTA, which serves as a liaison to the community. Strong positive relationships with parents support our instructional program.
