School Summary

Ravensworth Elementary School has been located for over 50 years in the Ravensworth Farms area of Fairfax County. Our school hosts a Spanish partial-immersion program which allows us to serve students from across Fairfax County. Efforts are made to ensure that every student's family has an opportunity to participate in the large "community" of the Ravensworth family. The PTA supports a number of activities in our community including Bingo Night, Family Movie Night, Grace Art and many after-school enrichment programs. You are always welcome to set up a time with your child's teacher to volunteer in the classroom, read a book to the class, or come in to have lunch with your child.

The safety of your child is our top priority at Ravensworth Elementary School. We ask that all parents and visitors come into the office to show ID and receive a visitor sticker before accessing the school building. Ravensworth ES is excited to announce that we have recently completed our school's renovation!  A new 15,000 square foot addition has been built across the front of the building, housing the main office, the art room, and most of the primary grades. The existing building has also being renovated. We are now a bright new school with modern fixtures, an enclosed outdoor learning space, better technology equipment in each classroom, and upgraded safety features. We believe it is a fantastic learning environment for our Ravens!

During your child's education at Ravensworth Elementary School he or she will learn so very much from their teachers. We strive to provide many rich opportunities for students to collaborate with one another and work together as research has shown that the outdated "sit and get" method of teaching does not have as big of an impact on student learning as meaningful discussion, collaboration and hand's on trial and error. We use Google Documents as a way to expand on student-student and student-teacher collaboration. If you are not familiar with Google Docs, take some time and check it out! Your child may even be able to teach you a little something about it.

Our vision at Ravensworth Elementary School identifies that we live in a rapidly changing world, and as educators we recognize that it is our job to ensure students are holistically prepared for that world. The staff at RES views every child as an individual, and works hard to make sure students are academically challenged. United with you, the Ravensworth Family will work together to ensure the best education for our Ravens. We thank you for trusting us each day with such special children.
