School Summary

At Herndon High School, we believe All Hornets are capable of success. No Exceptions!

We are an inclusive high school that serves a diverse student body from Herndon, Reston, and Great Falls, and we are located near Dulles Airport and numerous technology centers. Herndon offers a full range of advanced placement courses and dual enrollment courses. Honors courses in grades nine through twelve help students prepare for upper-level courses. A multi-faceted fine and performing arts program offers students a range of courses in visual arts, music, and drama.

School athletics and activities help our students build relationships, as well as develop a spirit of competition and a sense of teamwork. Herndon boasts numerous clubs and co-curricular activities for students to join, including our infamous Robotics team and "Spirit of Herndon" Marching Band. Herndon High School's athletic teams participate in the highly competitive Liberty District within the Northern Region. Student athletes are honored at the conclusion of each season with an awards banquet held at the high school, and performers are honored at the end of the school year. Our Buzzworthy Breakfast is held annually to recognize students who have shown great improvement. Teachers nominate students to be recognized at this highly anticipated event. The Senior Scholarship Night is another highlight of the school year. Through school-community partnerships, Herndon students receive nearly 3 million dollars each year in scholarship opportunities.

At Herndon, we believe all students can be successful and contributing members at school, at home, and in our community. It truly takes a village to ensure each student is able to grow to their full potential. We are incredibly grateful for our supportive Herndon community, including our Town of Herndon leadership.
