School Summary

Union Mill Elementary School (UMES) has established high and clear achievement standards and accountability measures for all students. Strong emphasis is placed on learning to ensure continuous improvement in the school's language arts, math, social studies and science programs of study. Small group instruction ensures that each student receives instruction that will maximize their learning. The staff is committed to working as a professional learning community to enrich children's lives.

The UMES Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a pillar of support providing classroom and school volunteers, financial support for field trips, cultural arts programs, and a multitude of clubs and after-school activities. In partnership with the parents, UMES has developed a strong commitment to our community and service learning to instill a sense of civic responsibility.
