School Summary

Willow Springs Elementary School staff members and school community believe that children are the most important resource. Each child is given opportunities to reach his or her highest potential. In addition to base school students, Willow Springs Elementary School also serves students in a center program for the gifted and talented and provides special education services to students with disabilities consistent with the recommendations of individualized education program teams.

Learners are motivated to increase self-awareness and achieve an understanding and an appreciation of the world around them. All objectives in the Willow Springs School Plan assure academic success for every student. Emphasized objectives include: improving the academic performance of all students with emphasis in mathematics, science, and integrated language arts; encouraging the involvement of all students in enrichment activities that extend beyond the classroom; sustaining effective communication ties between the school and the community; and increasing staff members' and students' knowledge of the characteristics and cultural contributions of different ethnic groups.

Emphasis is placed on maximizing and integrating available technologies throughout the instructional program. Smartboards and laptops are used at various grades. Willow Springs also seeks to encourage innovation in the integration of general education and special education students. The integration promotes the development of new strategies and programs to enhance the understanding of special education and incorporate it with general education to the advantage of all students. Inclusion and Applied Behavior Analysis strategies are employed.

Staff members are fully engaged in developing their own initiatives to that end. With a wide variety of programs and a dedicated and enthusiastic staff, Willow Springs has created a learning environment that prepares each child for the world today and the ever-changing future.
